If you've never been to the She is Football Flag Invitational, put it on your list. The energy is electric, the competition is real, and the community feel is unlike anything else on the high school flag football calendar.
We were there — booth set up, gear in hand — and what we saw confirmed everything we already believed about where this sport is headed. Eight high school programs from across central Florida competing at the AdventHealth Training Center at a level that would surprise anyone who still thinks flag football is a casual game. The crowds were loud. The talent was undeniable. And the backdrop of the Buccaneers' own facility made the whole thing feel like the major event it is.
We also noticed something else: a lot of girls were competing in gear that wasn't built for them or for this sport. Generic sports bras, mismatched uniforms, compression gear borrowed from other sports. That gap is exactly why Flag-Up exists — and exactly why we put this guide together.
What Is the She is Football Flag Invitational?
High School Flag Football at Its Best
The She is Football Flag Invitational is the centerpiece of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' annual She is Football Weekend — a two-day celebration around International Women's Day built around a single mission: developing 50,000 female leaders annually through the power of sport. The flag football invitational brings together eight of the top girls flag football programs from across central Florida to compete at the Buccaneers' AdventHealth Training Center, one of the premier NFL facilities in the country.
The 2026 field included Apopka, Belleview, Bloomingdale, East Bay, Harmony, Hernando, Lennard, and Steinbrenner high schools — programs that represent the depth and quality of girls flag football in Florida right now. This isn't a rec league showcase. Florida is one of the most competitive flag football states in the country, and the She is Football Invitational brings out the best of it.
The event is part of a broader weekend that includes a sold-out Career Summit, a 5K, and a free Market & Festival open to the whole community. If your daughter plays, if you coach, or if you just love watching elite high school flag football — She is Football Weekend belongs on your calendar every year.
What to Pack: The Player's Game-Day Bag
Don't Show Up Unprepared
Tournament days are long. You may play multiple games, deal with Florida heat, and not have easy access to stores or gear. Here's what every player should have packed before she walks out the door.
1. The Right Sports Bra
This was the single biggest gear gap we saw at the Invitational. A flag football sports bra needs to do things a standard athletic bra was never designed for — clear a flag belt, handle explosive cuts and sprints, and stay locked in through four quarters of real competition. The Flag-Up MVPocket Sports Bra was built specifically for this sport, with a built-in mouthguard pocket so you're never fumbling at the line. It's the best sports bra for flag football on the market — and on a tournament day, that matters.
2. Single-Leg Compression Pants
Single-leg compression pants were everywhere at the Invitational — and for good reason. They protect your dominant leg on turf slides, reduce muscle fatigue across multiple games, and keep your flag belt sitting exactly where it needs to be. Flag-Up offers two styles: the classic single-leg compression pants in solid colors, and the designer single-leg compression pants in limited-edition prints for players who want to stand out. Both are built for the specific demands of flag football — not borrowed from another sport.
3. A Complete, Game-Ready Uniform
Tournament days are also a statement. When your team takes the field at a venue like the AdventHealth Training Center looking unified and put together, it matters — for confidence, for culture, and for how you're perceived. Women's flag football uniforms built specifically for this sport look different from generic athletic wear, and they perform differently too. 4. Your Mouthguard — Stored Where You Can Find It
Mandatory in most leagues and tournaments — and worth getting one that actually fits. The Flag-Up Boil & Bite Mouthguard molds to your mouth for a custom, secure fit and comes in two exclusive designs — Her Game. Her Gear. and Shifty — so you can protect your smile and show your style at the same time. Each one includes a Flag-Up case for clean, game-ready storage. Store it in the built-in pocket of the MVPocket Sports Bra and you'll never be digging through your bag at the line of scrimmage again. Small detail. Big difference on game day.
5. Extra Layers for Warmup and Cooldown
Even in Tampa, early morning games can be cool and afternoons can be brutal. Pack a lightweight long-sleeve for warmup and a change of clothes for after your final game. Arm sleeves are a great option for warmth and turf protection — check out Flag-Up's accessories collection for options built for flag football.
6. Hydration and Fuel
Florida heat is no joke — especially at a multi-game tournament. A large water bottle, electrolyte packets, and easy snacks between games will keep your energy up when it counts. Don't rely on what's available at the venue.

Because Tournament Days Are Long for Everyone
The She is Football Flag Invitational is a full two-day event. The family energy in the stands was one of the things that made it special — but staying comfortable and prepared makes the experience a lot better for everyone on the sideline.
- Folding chairs or a blanket — sideline seating isn't always guaranteed
- Sunscreen and a hat — Florida sun hits hard, even in the morning
- Snacks and water for the whole family — long days between games drain everyone
- A portable charger — you'll be filming everything, and your phone will die
- Cash — some vendors and entry gates don't take cards
- A backup set of gear for your player — extra socks, a spare sports bra, and a change of clothes can save a tournament day
Why She is Football Matters for the Sport
This Is Bigger Than One Tournament
When an NFL franchise puts its name, its facilities, and its full weekend behind a girls flag football event, it sends a message. It says this sport is real. These athletes are real. And the future of women's flag football runs through events exactly like this one.
The She is Football mission — developing 50,000 female leaders annually through sport — isn't just a tagline. The research backs it up: 94% of women in executive positions played youth sports. Keeping girls in the game isn't just good for athletics. It builds the next generation of leaders. With flag football heading to the 2028 Olympics, the pipeline from high school competition to elite play has never been more important.
At Flag-Up, that's exactly the community we're here to serve. We were proud to have our booth at the Invitational, and the response from athletes and families was everything we hoped for. Girls trying on gear built specifically for them for the first time. Parents asking where this brand has been. Coaches talking about what their programs actually need.
We'll be back. And we hope to see you there.
